The Debates Leader on Habbox, established in 2010, is responsible for creating new and interesting topics both inside and outside of the Debates Forum to stimulate discussion between forum members. The role of Debates Leader is a sought after one, and Debates staff changes happen very rarely.

After the resignation of buttons from the position in early 2016, the role was left vacant. In January 2017, the task of Debates was merged by Forum Manager Chris into the responsibilities of the Forum Department. In March 2017 it was announced that the role would be restored, however, the role remained dormant for another year.

In July 2018 it was announced that Debates would be restored under the remit of the Forum Department, and Sectional added the title of Debates Leader to his Forum Moderation role in December of that year. The most recent Debates Leader was sexpot.

Debates awards

From the beginning of Habbox Debates, the Debates Top Contributor was the de facto award used on the forum with varying use depending on who was Debates Leader at the time as well as forum activity. In 2015, a new collection of awards based on ideology were introduced and can be awarded outside of the official Debates Forum by the Debates Leader should an interesting exchange take place to merit so.

Trivia

• In terms of combined reigns -:Undertaker:- was the longest-serving Debates Leader. Sectional is the 2nd longest reigning Debates Leader in a single term, with Grig currently beating him by combining the 3 different times he's held the role. sexpot was the fourth longest-serving Debates Leader.
• Grig has held the position a record three times, with Cosmic holding it twice.
