Preview of BobbaBar

Bobba Bar was an online virtual social networking game, developed and published by Sulake. It was a spin-off of Habbo Hotel, but unlike Habbo, Bobba Bar was aimed at 17-year olds or above and was an application for Nokia smart phones and iOS users. Bobba Bar was launched in the Nokia OVI store and iTunes as a free application on November 2009 as an attempt to replace the popular mobile phone game "Mini Friday". When the game was first launched it was known as "Bobba", but in order to reflect the social-hangout theme of the application it was later changed to Bobba Bar.

Users could create rooms within the application for a small cost and, upon creating a room, they were given the option to choose one of the following themes/categories: Flamingo Disco, Tech bars, Romance bars, Terrace Cafes, Sports Bars, Beach Bars, Office Bars, Summer Festivals, Gamer Cafes or Block Parties.

Closure

On the 7th of April, 2014, the application was permanently closed. It was closed due to low user numbers and Sulake are wanting to focus their undivided attention to their main business asset, Habbo Hotel. The application had a lifespan of approximately 5 years; from November 2009 until April 2014, outliving the previous application, Mini Friday, which lasted for approximately 3 years. During its 5 years, the application had 800k registered users. The notice below was displayed on the Bobba Bar website from January 2014 until the closing date:

"IMPORTANT NOTICE: Dear User, we would like to inform you that Bobba Bar is closing permanently on the 7th of April. Thank you for playing! Should you have any questions, please contact our customer service: [email protected]"

Now the notice has changed to the following:

"Bobba Bar is permanently closed. Thank you for playing! Should you have any questions, please contact our customer service: [email protected]"
