Moderators

Moderators on Habbo were commonly known as MODS. Their role was based around minimising any trouble that arose from user behaviour and punishing those Habbos that are breaking the Habbo Way. They helped Habbos on the hotel via the Call for Help tool.

All moderator applicants were given an interview, and had a background check before they could officially take on the role. Moderators used lots of different techniques while moderating, such as the famously known "Mod Tool". This special set of functions could kick an individual user, kick a whole room, ban users and give out information to those who need it via pop-up messages. Moderators could also use speech commands, such as :roommute, :alert and :ban as shortcuts. Moderators were unable to unban users so banned users still needed to use the Habbo Help Tool and Player Support to appeal against their ban to have any hope of having it lifted.

Most moderator names started with MOD followed by their Habbo name (for example, MOD-Ellz), however there were a few exceptions to this rule.

Current Moderators

Habbo is now largely auto moderated by robots. Alongside the Bobba filter for certain words and phrases, there is a Habbo Moderation system that utilises learning technology to determine breaches of conduct, but sanctions are stated to still be checked by human staff.

Notable Moderators

lilduckie

Christine "lilduckie" Hong sadly passed away March 23, 2002 after a long battle with Leukaemia. Christine was known for her hard work and dedication in Habbo Hotel (UK). She was also a former Hobba. According to RedVelvet - a fellow Hobba, she stated that Christine never let us see her fears, she never even hinted that she was in pain. She fought hard and accomplished her goals despite her unfortunate situation. She also said "She was the strongest person I have ever known. She will be deeply missed as one of Habbo's best moderators, the top duck collector, and an amazing friend. When I heard about her passing the next morning, all that went through my head was why. Why someone so young, pretty, and brilliant? Why didn't she tell us things were so serious? It took me a while to realize that she never wanted pity or attention because of her illness. She just wanted to be treated normally, so she never let on to anyone what she was really going through. That shows amazing strength and selflessness."

MOD-UK

MOD-UK was a dedicated Habbo and Moderator that has played a role in being the backbone of the UK moderation team for quite a while. His alternative username is Y0RKIE. On 26 December 2005, Y0RKIE sadly passed away from an illness which is currently unknown.

MOD-Mooierooie (mooierooie)

MOD-Mooierooie was a Habbo Moderator on the Dutch Habbo Hotel. She sadly passed away. More information is not known.
