A Gift is an item of furniture given by one player to another. When a player buys any item from the catalogue, they are given the option to buy the item for another player in the form of a gift. To do this, the Habbo buying the furniture must press the 'Buy as Gift' button instead of pressing the 'Buy' button on the popup, after clicking 'Buy' the first time.
In V43 an Update was added enabling the sender to choose Gift Wrapping. This came in two forms - basic or advanced, which cost 1 Credit. Advanced wrapping meant they could choose personalised colours. Achievements regarding gifts were also added in this update - both giving and receiving gifts adds to a player's Achievement Score, and gives two different Badges.
Presents are not tradeable. However, if the receiver opens the present, they are able to trade the furniture within. Any furniture is purchasable as a gift, with the exception of Marketplace items and Pixel furniture - Kuurna.
Gift Wrapping was introduced in the UK in January 2010 as part of V43. It gave users the option to apply some custom gift wrapping to presents sent to other users. There are many combinations which can be created through gift wrapping which adds a personal feel to each present that is gift wrapped. However, with customising comes a cost of 1 Credit and Habbo have given the option to disable this feature, allowing users to send Gifts with free wrapping.
These are the standard gift colors you can get/give:
In this achievement, a player must give gifts to other players. This badge is more unpopular, as a player must spend credits to buy something from the catalogue and send it to a friend. Popular methods to save credits include; asking a friend to trade the furniture back and sending gifts to other characters on the player's own ID.
In this achievement, a player must receive gifts from another Habbo. To complete this achievement, a player must get presents from their friends, but similarly to the Present Giver achievement, many people use different characters on their IDs in order to not lose credits. There are also 10 levels in this badge, and reaching level 10 involves receiving 566 gifts.
- Sulake occasionally give items to Habbos - such as the free Frog in 2011, free starter Cats or occasionally Holiday Gifts, which all come in custom-designed boxes. Ecotron and Furni-Matic prizes also came in custom designed boxes, which often end up as rare and desirable furniture items.
- There are over 140 combinations of gift wrapping, and many Habbos aim to collect them all.
- One of the homepage backgrounds used on Christmas were alot of gifts with ribbons.
